Invitation to Producers
in Dunn,
Pierce and St. Croix counties
Thursday, November 14th from 6:00 – 8:00pm.
University of WI River Falls, Wyman
Education Bldg (WEB) #124
Join us and learn about an
opportunity to sell your locally produced meat, fruit and vegetables, dairy and
value-added products as part of a food hub being developed in West Central
Wisconsin. This meeting is sponsored by the St. Croix Institute for Sustainable
Community Development at UW River Falls, and UW-Stout Office of Sustainability.
A small group of community
members from Dunn, Pierce, and St. Croix counties have come together to
facilitate the start of a local food hub that will market, aggregate and
distribute locally produced food on a wholesale level within the region. Our
mission is to foster a local food system that promotes regional economic
development, environmental stewardship and social equality.
The hub will work in partnership
with St. Croix Buy Fresh Buy Local for marketing services, and the 5th
Season Coop for distribution of products via the I-94 corridor into the twin
cities.
As part of our session, we’ll
hear from Kelly Cain, Director at the St. Croix Institute for Sustainable
Community Development who will provide an overview of St. Croix Buy Fresh Buy
Local. In addition, Diane Chapeta,
General Manager at 5th Season Coop headquartered in Viroqua, WI,
will discuss the distribution component of the food hub.
Further, during this session
you’ll hear about the details involved in making this investment for your farm
operation. We’ll cover the structure and
types of memberships, equity requirements, and payment options.
